Location: Edinburgh
Ellen Renton is a poet and theatre maker from Edinburgh. Since performing for the first time in 2015, she has read her poetry at events and venues around the UK including the Scottish Parliament, the Roundhouse, and Verve Poetry Festival.
As part of spoken word theatre group In The Works she has collaboratively written and performed two Edinburgh Fringe shows. The most recent of these was The 900 Club, which is a story of grief, friendship and mental health set on the Megabus between Glasgow and Edinburgh. This year, Ellen recieved an Unlimited Emerging Artist Award and support from Creative Scotland to write and tour her debut solo poetry show, Within Sight. The piece is about disability and the Paralympics, and is inspired by Ellen’s experience of living with albinism. The tour will take place next year, and one if its main aims is to stimulate discussion and proactive change around disabled access to arts spaces.
