Ellie Murtagh

Ellie Murtagh

Location: Edinburgh

Ellie is committed to exploring how we adapt to our changing climate.  She works for the sustainability charity, Sniffer, on the Adaptation Scotland programme, which provides advice and support to help organisations, businesses and communities prepare for and build resilience to the impacts of climate change.

After studying geology, Ellie’s interests expanded to explore how humans are impacting our natural world through her roles as secretary of Geology for Global Development and volunteer organiser of the Children & Youth Forum at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction. This led to postgraduate studies in the field and she is currently completing a PhD on decision making for climate resilience at the University of Strathclyde. She also served on the Board of Trustees of the 2050 Climate Group from 2016-2019.

Whilst originally an Irish–American, she has proudly called Scotland home since 2008 and credits the opportunities afforded here as enablers of what she has achieved to date and looks forward to continuing to contribute to the country as an active citizen in the future.
