In 2019–2020, participants from a range of ethnic minority backgrounds came together in Scottish Parliament to run a committee inquiry on a topic of their choice.

The committee chose: ‘To investigate what measures are being taken to increase employment opportunities for women from ethnic minorities including recruitment, retention and development policies and practices’.

This topic was chosen due to an identified lack of Scotland-specific data regarding BAME women’s experiences of moving from education into employment.

This is the third Young Women Lead report, following inquiries into sexual harassment in schools and young women’s relationships with sports and physical activity.
